  1. 1/It’s when the Giver transmit a memory to the Receiver. The Giver touches the Receiver, then the Receiver will receive a memory.
2/ Yes, he had all the requirements for a Receiver and I think he deserve the job.
3/He could see the color red. We don’t know yet since The Giver didn’t tell Jonas about it yet.
4/ It was a stuffed hippo. I don’t think it really symbolize anything, really, I think it’ll just add up to the plot later on.
5/ Only The Giver and The Receiver.

  2. 1) A transmission is when the Giver transports the memories to the Receiver. The Giver just simply place his hands on Jonas’s back while Jonas is lying faced down on the bed with eyes closed.
    2) I think Jonas was the right choice for the Receiver, because he notices more than others, his mind isn’t set for one thing, its set for countless things and experiences. Being in another job/assignment wouldn’t have been a good fit for him, after all, he’s extraordinary.
    3) Jonas could see a slight little change within things, like colors in a colorless world. The Giver sees and notices things a little differently from Jonas, as he notices a lot when he first experienced his snow memory compared to Jonas.
    4) Gabriel has a stuffed hippo, but it doesn’t seem to really symbolize anything, although hippos do symbolize wisdom that includes power, emotional depth, creation, imagination, healing, proper use of aggression, ability to move gracefully through emotions, protection of family, mother-fury when needed, birth of new ideas, lucid dreaming, spirit contact.
    5) Only the Giver and the Receiver are allowed to read the forbidden books within the community.

  3. 1. A transmission is when someone provide you somethings. In the Giver, transmission occurred when the Giver transmitted the memories to Jonas by putting his hand on Jonas’s back.

    2. In my opinion, Jonas should have been selected because as the Chief Elder said, Jonas had full of capacities of being the Receiver, so Jonas deserved to the Receiver.

    3. The Capacity to see Beyond that had happened to Jonas was he had the ability to see the color, red within one-color Community.

    4. Gabriel’s toy is the hippo and I think it may symbolized an innocence of the baby.

    5. Only the Giver and Jonas got the permission to access the forbidden books of the Comunity.
