I just want to remind you what to do if you find that you’ve completed a literature circle assignment that I haven’t recorded.

Week 5- Word Wizard

1. inaccurate: (pg.98)

Guess: also correct

Definition: not accurate

Sentence: He began and then corrected himself. “No, that’s inaccurate. He’s not my brother, not really. But new child that my family takes care of – His name’s Gabriel?”

2. frustration: (pg. 99)

Guess: disappointed

Definition: the feeling of being annoyed or upset.

Sentence: with a feeling of frustration that be didn’t understand.

3. Irrationally: (pg.99)

Guess: thinking

Definition: thinking, talking or acting without inclusion of rationality.

Sentence: He found that he was often angry, now: irrationally angry at his group mates….

4. overwhelmed: (pg.100)

Guess: sadness

Definition: bury or drown beneath a huge mass.

Sentence: He felt himself overwhelmed with a new perception o the color he knew as red.

5. Consciousness: (pg.101)

Guess: responsibility

Definition: The awareness or perception of something in person.

Sentence: It continued to roar into his consciousness as he pedaled slowly home.

6. Disregarded: (pg.105)

Guess: focus

Definition: Pay attention or ignore.

Sentence: The had together disregarded the rules about rudeness, and Jonas felt comfortable with that now.

 

Week 4 – Connector

Connection between Jonas’s community and my own life is our community have a lots rules, but we have a lots transportation and they don’t have (only bicycle).

1. What connection can I make to my own life?

– less study education, and reproduce natural (use less gas) like : ride a bike.

2. What other places, people, or books can I think of that compare to this story?

– The hunger game is a book, also a movie. It’s connect to the Giver.

3. What other characters have I read about that compare with the ones from this book?

– Jonas (The giver) – Katnis (The hunger game)

4. What other authors are similar to this one in writing style?

– They use a lot of detail to connect together.

5. How does this section relate to those that came before it?

– what Jonas try to do in the next chapter is Jonas’s community problem

Aiden Week 6 Discussion Director

1. What happened in his second memory? Was it the same as the first one?

2.On page 115, What did did the Giver talk about back then?

3.How did Jonas feel after entering the annex room?

4. What is Jonas other memory beside memory of snow? (Hint: there’s a warfare happening)

5. What happen to Jonas for the first time?

Week 6 Reflector

I think he will be panic, because these might be too horrible for him, and maybe this is when last receiver had fail.So that why the giver said sorry and worry before that. The mood is boring and horrible as what i felt. I think something big is happening. Jonas in this section is a bit passive, and he had receive a lot of thing that might over range for him. “The Giver looked away, as if he could not bear to see what he had done to Jonas. “Forgive me,” he said.” It made me feel excited and interesting to read next chapter but I am to lazy to read. This section this kind of better than other section.

Guess: the middle

Sentence: “… Chief Elder’s eyes were now on one who sat in the midst but seemed oddly separated from them.” Pg 60

Dictionary: the position of anything surrounded by other things or parts, oroccurring in the middle of a period of time

Week 4 reflector- Khuong

1. I predict that Jonas in the rest of the story will go through many pain that his job give him. After receiving all the memory, maybe Jonas will become the Giver.

2. The mood was pretty sad, because Jonas was mad and anxious that the Chief Elder didn’t give him any job. After that, Jonas was really surprise.

3.  I was wondering what pain will Jonas have to go through, and I was thinking of The Hunger Games where Katniss was the 1/2 person that get to go to the game.

4. I think the one that change the most in this chapter is Jonas. He will have to change because he now receive a really important job, that only 1 person in the community get. He was amazed that he get to be the receiver of memory. He is also curious how the job would be like, because the Chief Elder told him that he would go through many pain.

5. I think the big idea of this session is Jonas is now the receiver of memory. He is now seperated from everyone else, and in his job, the only person he would meet is the Giver.

6. The text makes me curious because now I have to find out how the job go with Jonas.

7. I predict that he will change a lot through out the story, and he will have memories that no one in the community know. His family will not know what things Jonas is doing with The Giver.
